The SUAVE RACING CLUB was formed to bring together a small number of people interested in Owning Greyhounds with the capability to run in Top Grade or (preferrably) Open Class Races. For anAll Greyhounds that are owned by the Club carry the SUAVE Prefix before their name .
The club was founded with two unraced Pups Eden Dasher and Eden Cougar that were subsequently called SUAVE DASHER & SUAVE COUGAR. The two Dogs can be seen in the photo to the left with Founder Members Barry Knight (left) and Dennis Beckett, and those two Men were quickly followed in t the fray by TomPickering who was later to become the groups Secretary. Kevin Perisi, already a member of a syndicate attached to the Kennel, The Casual Gents, was next to throw his hat in to the ring as the concept of the Club became more popular with existing Owners. He was quickly joined by Kieron Drake and then Mark Newton & Gary Maher who share a membership between them and the initial quota of memberships (6) were all sold .
Dasher and Cougar started their careers well and all the Clubs Members could see their potential from the get-go..They were more than happy to release two further Memberships and purchase a third greyhound Gaffers Buddy, which is now known as SUAVE GAFFER. The two new membership holders were Jason Hulbert from Stourbridge and pals Garry Tighe and Ewen McLeod from Edinburgh who went fifty-fifty for the eigth membership. That meant that the Group had members from, Oxford, Newbury, Brackley, Coventry, Stourbridge, Staffordshire and Edinburgh, further endorsing that Syndicates can bring together people from all walks of life and all areas of the UK.
Both SUAVE DASHER and SUAVE COUGAR have done the Club proud, COUGAR making A1 Grade and Dasher A3 Grade. Both Hounds have beenvery consistent racking up 3 wins-in-a-row and COUGAR was awarded Dog ofthe Monmth recently. Unfortunately GAFFER was badly injured during qualifying and was unable to race but wasgiven his forever home inNovember 2016.
SYNDICATION IS A VERY VIABLE ALTERNATIVE for ownership of a Racing Greyhound and as well as reducing responsibilty and costs it offers the opportunity for any one who partakes to meet new people and forge friendships that can last a lifetime.
Owning a racing greyhound is a thrill all people can experience. Put yourself and your greyhound first.
